Man arrested after attempting to flee police on motorcycle – KBSI Fox 23 Cape Girardeau News

SALEM, KY (KBSI) – Deputy Kindred of the Livingston County Sheriff's Office noticed a motorcycle committing numerous traffic violations.

On September 20, as Deputy Kindred attempted to conduct a traffic stop at the intersection of US 60 and Golden Meadow Driver, the motorcycle began to accelerate and eluded him. He pursued the suspect for approximately 35 miles when the motorcycle attempted to turn left and lost control in a grassy area off of Lola Road. The man attempted to flee on foot but only got a short distance before being apprehended. He was identified as Joseph Belt of Ledbetter, KY and after a search, Deputy Kindred found a glass pipe and two baggies containing a white, crystal-like substance weighing 1.59 grams. Belt was incarcerated in the McCracken County Jail and faces the following charges:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Methamphetamine)
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Fleeing or eluding police, 2nd degree
  • Numerous traffic violations
