Easton man arrested for sexually abusing Brockton teenager

Local news

Markenson Beuge, 21, will officially face assault charges this week after he was arrested at a Wendy's in Easton on Friday.

An Easton man was arrested after a Brockton middle school student was sexually assaulted on her way home last week and arrested Saturday, police said.

Markenson Beuge, 21, is accused of attacking the girl, who attends West Middle School in Brockton, on Tuesday of last week. Brockton said the pair wrestled briefly before the student was able to escape home.

A Brockton police spokesman said school police searched a home on Cherry Street in Brockton on Friday night. Beuge was then found in Easton and taken into custody, police said.

The Brockton Company reported that Beuge was arrested by school police at a Wendy's restaurant in Easton where he works.

“Thank you to the Brockton Detectives for assisting the school police in their investigation,” the police statement said.

Police began searching for the man last Wednesday after being notified of the incident, the department said. Priya Tahiliani, Brockton's acting principal, said the school community had been notified and urged students to “remain vigilant and report anything they notice to a trusted adult.”

“We are working closely with Brockton Police to support the student and family affected by this deeply disturbing incident and will work with police to assist in identifying a suspect,” she said in a statement last week.

Beuge has to appear in court this week for sexual assault.
