49ers vs. Rams: 4th quarter thread: Whoever wins the quarter wins the game

The 49ers began the third quarter the same way they started the game, with a touchdown. An 11-play, 91-yard drive lasted over six minutes.

Jordan Mason managed a 14-yard run, but it was Jennings who pulled off a beautiful double play for a 31-yard touchdown on 3rd & 5. We see the strength of the 49ers' pass catchers. In my opinion, injuries to Deebo Samuel and George Kittle could be beneficial in the long run as they force Kyle Shanahan to get Jennings more involved. Well, Jennings had three touchdowns and eclipsed the 100-yard mark midway through the third quarter.

We knew the Rams weren't going to give up. Early in the drive, Isaac Yiadom committed a 48-yard pass interference penalty. On 3rd & 9, Charvarius Ward gave up a first down in coverage after TuTu Atwell double-caught a pass, but Ward was nowhere to be found in coverage. Rookie Renaro Green replaced Mooney but drew a penalty in the end zone. The Rams scored a touchdown on the ensuing play and the lead was cut to 21-14.

Jennings made the best catch he ever made as a pro, and the Niners needed him. Purdy gave him an opportunity to make a play further down the field, and Jennings took advantage.
