Seahawks lead 17-3 against Dolphins at halftime

The Dolphins had a long flight to get to Seattle for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, and the flight home is expected to feel even longer.

Seattle scored on all three possessions in the first quarter, and the Dolphins struggled to move the ball for the first 30 minutes of play with Skylar Thompson at quarterback, resulting in a 17-3 Seahawks lead at halftime.

After a Jason Myers field goal to start the game, the Seahawks forced a punt and needed just five plays to drive 53 yards to a Zach Charbonnet touchdown run. The touchdown was set up by a 22-yard catch by DK Metcalf, and their next drive was even shorter, as Metcalf ran 71 yards for a touchdown on first down.

Geno Smith completed 14 of 18 passes for 200 yards, but threw an interception under pressure in his own end zone. The Dolphins took over at the 6-yard line, but lost ground and had to settle for a field goal. A penalty contributed to that, and the Dolphins have already been penalized seven times this afternoon.

Thompson completed 10 of 16 passes for 79 yards and was sacked four times by the Seahawks defense, which will continue to haunt him as they now play with a 14-point lead. They did lose defensive linemen Leonard Williams and Byron Murphy to injuries, but that could be a bigger problem next week than it was this week.
