Perry Farrell of Janes Addiction seeks medical attention after argument on stage

“Love. Kindness. Compassion. Grace.” Etty Lau Farrell, the wife of Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, demands all of that. After the on-stage argument between Farrell and Jane's guitarist Dave Navarro, Etty Lau posted on Instagram that her husband was undergoing treatment with an ENT doctor and a neurologist to get to the bottom of the cause of the problem.

Last week, “instead of speculating,” Etty Lau posted a video of Farrell shoving and punching Navarro during a show in Boston. But the video has already made the rounds online. Farrell has since apologized and the band has canceled its remaining tour dates. In her post last week, Etty Lau mentioned “a lot of tension and animosity between members” within the group, “which made the band so dynamic,” but could be explosive.

Etty Lau thanked Jane's Addition fans who responded to Farrell's recent behavior with “love and compassion, kind words, and even their homes to retreat to.” She was also “equally astonished” to see Farrell, “the gentlest of souls,” behaving so aggressively. “Perry must have been pushed to his absolute limits… for that, we apologize.” According to the post, Farrell will “take some time to reflect and heal” and “already has appointments with an ENT doctor and a neurologist.”

In her previous post, Etty Lau explained that Farrell's “frustration had increased” because he believed the volume on stage was drowning out his voice. As a result, Farrell suffered from tinnitus and a sore throat – hence the visit to the ENT doctor.

“With all of your love, kindness, compassion and support, you know Perry will pull through. He will recover,” she wrote. “He will be happy again. He will be able to share his music, his vision and his artistry again – unbridled.”
