2 teens arrested in connection with shooting near Delaware State University

DOVER, Delaware (WPVI) – An 18-year-old and a 15-year-old were arrested by Delaware State University police in connection with a shooting earlier this month.

It happened on September 7 shortly after 10:30 p.m. near a university apartment complex called Courtyards.

Officers said they went to the apartments because a shooting had been reported. At the scene, several vehicles and buildings were shot at.

According to investigators, no injuries were reported.

Authorities later identified 18-year-old Tyrone Harrell and a 15-year-old boy, both of Dover, as the suspected shooters in that incident.

Harrell was enrolled as a student at Delaware State University, but has since been expelled, according to police.

The 15-year-old's connection to the university is not known.

According to police, Harrell was arrested without incident on September 9.

According to police, the 15-year-old was taken into custody on September 20.

Authorities reportedly found a .40-caliber polymer pistol with a loaded 30-round magazine.

Both suspects were charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, reckless endangerment and other related offenses.
