What you should know

  • Program Note: Watch “49ers Postgame Live” on NBC Sports Bay Area or stream the show on the NBC Sports app for complete reaction, analysis and interviews from San Francisco’s surprising 27-24 loss to the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium.
  • The 49ers fell to 1-2 after a surprise 27-24 loss to the Rams on Sunday at SoFi Stadium. Los Angeles scored the final 13 points of the game to steal the game from San Francisco.
  • Wide receiver Jauan Jennings played the game of his NFL life, catching 11 passes for 175 yards and three touchdowns, which is a career high. The fourth-year pro did big things in the absence of Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel and George Kittle.
  • Quarterback Brock Purdy completed 21 of 29 passes for 258 yards and three touchdowns – all to Jennings. The third-year pro finished with a passer rating of 134.0, marking the 16th time in his 24 NFL appearances that he has achieved a passer rating of 100 or higher. This puts him on a par with Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner, who completed the second most passes in his first 25 appearances as a player. Only Patrick Mahomes, the star of the Kansas City Chiefs, has more (18).
  • Brandon Aiyuk's problems from the start of the season continued, he caught only five of ten passes for a distance of 43 yards.
  • Running back Jordan Mason didn't reach the 100-yard mark, but that wasn't necessary for the 49ers. The third-year pro managed 77 yards on 19 carries.
  • Javon Hargrave, Maliek Collins and Sam Okuayinonu all recorded sacks for the 49ers defense.
  • Jake Moody had the chance to decide the game for the 49ers, but he missed a 55-yard field goal with 2:47 minutes left in regulation.
