Cowboys show fighting spirit until the end, but cannot complete the comeback and fall back to 1-2 ✭ Inside The Star

The Dallas Cowboys fell to 1-2 this season after another home loss, this time to the Baltimore Ravens 28-25.

The game felt over before it even started, but Dallas put up some resistance, but it was just a little too late.

Slow start

We all should know by now that this team is built to play with a lead, and has been for several years, yet the offense failed to do anything with the football after the open kickoff.

Once again, the defense was shredded. They were shredded on their first two possessions, putting them behind 14-3 early.

The only points of the first half were scored by Brandon Aubrey, and their only decent drive ended inside the 10-yard line when CeeDee Lamb dropped the football.

No surprise, right? The team's best player finds a way to do what the Cowboys do, and in doing so, destroys any hope Dallas had of having a chance to stay that close.

Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry did what they wanted, ending the first half with another touchdown and extending their lead to 21-6 at halftime.

Fight in the 4th quarter

When the second half began, the Cowboys trailed by 15 points, and the Ravens marched down the field and made it 28-6. That was all she wrote until things got fascinating.

It felt like it took 10 years for the second half to end. The Cowboys offense finally found the end zone midway through the 4th quarter.

They started attacking the middle of the field. I don't know why it took them so long.

They now have two offensive touchdowns in their first two home games this season.

With the new kickoff rule, the Cowboys decided to take their chance and kick an onside, and they recovered the ball, but that was the end of their hope. Dallas scored another touchdown after Dak Prescott found Jalen Tolbert, cutting the game to 10 points (28-18).

After the defense made a stop, Prescott scored a touchdown with Turpin, making the game three points with just over two minutes left.

When the defense needed the stop most, they just couldn't get it.

Say what you want, but these things go hand in hand. It starts with the defense not giving the offense a chance to stay in the game from the start.

It was a really entertaining game, but the team still has so many problems.

That side of the ball should be the strength early in the season, but maybe we all jumped the gun after the first week.

This gives me 2020 Mike Nolan vibes.

The offense lost Tony Pollard from last year and had to fight back with virtually the same guys. Mike McCarthy's offensive game plan is so bad to start the year it's crazy.

What happens next?

My thoughts on the game are still pretty much the same. I liked the fighting spirit of this team in the 4th quarter. I just wish it had happened sooner.

They had the chance to stop the ball and get it back.

How do you feel when a game like that happens? Happy about the fight they showed when they were down 28-3 and managed to pull the game back to three points with a decent amount of time left, or still upset that it was such a bad game for three quarters.

Now they face the Giants on Thursday with a chance to get back to .500. They should win this game, but you get the feeling that if CeeDee Lamb hadn't fumbled the ball in the first quarter, the game could have turned out differently.
