Yankees hit three home runs in 10-0 win over A's

The Yankees offense hit the ground running in the first three innings on Saturday night, scoring six runs en route to a 10-0 victory over the Oakland A's at the Oakland Coliseum.

Here are the findings…

-The Yankees ambushed the A's pitcher JP Sears early. After loading the bases after the first three batters he faced, Sears managed to Giancarlo Stanton to get into a double play and trade a run for the two outs. But Jason Dominguez made sure Sears didn't get off too easy by hitting an RBI single to left field to give the Bombers a 2-0 lead.

Anthony Volpewho had three hits on Friday, continued his hitting streak, hitting a massive 420-foot solo home run to left-center field that gave the Yankees a 3-0 lead in the second inning. It was the longest home run of Volpe's career.

After two consecutive singles from Juan Soto ad Aaron Richter To open the third inning, Stanton stepped up to bat with another chance to do damage, and this time he did not disappoint. The Yankees' batter blasted a first-pitch changeup 441 feet into left field, leaving the batter at 111.5 mph, giving the Yankees a commanding 6-0 lead.

–Carlos Rodon Enjoyed the advantage given to him by the Yankees' offense and effortlessly swept through the Oakland lineup in six scoreless innings, allowing only five hits and striking out four players.

The Yankees left-hander rarely got into trouble and made soft contact all evening. Shea Langeliers managed two hits against Rodon, including a two-out double in the sixth, but Rodon left him standing on second base by JJ Bleday to fly to the center and end the light threat.

Rodon has now allowed two or fewer runs in four consecutive starts and nine of his last 12 starts, posting a 2.97 ERA during that span as he prepares for the postseason.

–Aaron Richterwho entered Saturday with only two home runs in his last 23 games, hit his 54^th home run of the season when he opened the seventh inning with a 425-footer to center field against right-hander Brandon Bielak. He finished the game 2-for-3 with a single and a walk.

–Gleyber Torres quietly had an impressive night at bat, going 3-for-6 with two RBIs. He scored both runs in the seventh inning with a bases-loaded single to left field that was misplayed by A's outfielder Lawrence Butler to extend the lead to 10-0.

– The Yankees' win, combined with Baltimore's loss on Saturday, raises the magic number that secures the AL East to 3.

MVP of the game: Giancarlo Stanton

Stanton finished the game 2 for 4, but it was his three-run home run in the third inning that turned the game on its head and made it clear to the Yankees that they were on their way to another victory.
