Arizona K9 sniffs out nearly 2 pounds of drugs during traffic stop

On September 16, Mesa police stopped a car because they suspected it contained drugs. Their sniffer dog was sent to prove the officers were right.

MESA, Arizona – A Mesa Police Department sniffer dog is being celebrated by police after tracking down nearly two pounds of heroin and cocaine during a traffic stop, according to a police Facebook post.

Mesa police said officers from the Street Crimes Unit stopped a car on Fiesta Street on Sept. 16 because they suspected it was transporting drugs.

They had the sniffer dog Nick sniff around the car and Nick alerted officers that he had found something. Upon searching the car, officers found 1.1 pounds of heroin, 0.75 pounds of cocaine, a gun and $2,700 in cash.

The suspect in this case has not been identified and it is not known what charges will be brought against him.
