Man charged with attempted murder after shooting his mother and grandmother

WAYNE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – An attempted murder is under investigation in Monticello after a man fired a gun that struck both his mother and grandmother.

Kentucky State Police received a call from Monticello Police shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday requesting investigative assistance regarding a shooting at a residence on Winchester Road in Wayne County.

According to KSP, 25-year-old Chase Jackson was involved in a verbal argument with his mother and grandmother in a residence when Jackson fired a firearm, striking both women.

A Wayne County Sheriff's Office deputy performed life-saving measures before Wayne County EMS arrived. Both women were airlifted to UK Hospital, where they remain in critical condition.

Jackson was later discovered on Highway 90 in Wayne County and taken into custody. He is being held at the Wayne County Detention Center on two counts of attempted murder and two counts of first-degree assault.

The incident remains under investigation.
