Six people in Polk County hospitalized after serious accident

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, three people were taken to the hospital by ambulance and the other three were taken by helicopter.

FROSTPROOF, Fla. – Six people were hospitalized after a serious crash involving at least two cars near U.S. Highway 27 in Frostproof, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said in an email.

The accident reportedly occurred on the Alturas Babson Park Cutoff Road near the highway around 8:21 p.m. Sunday. Officials said three people were taken to the hospital by ambulance and the remaining three were taken by helicopter.

According to the sheriff's office, one of the accident victims is a minor.

The condition of those involved in the accident is currently unknown, but officials believe that at least one of them suffered serious injuries.
