Candlelight vigil at the crash site in Maricopa County where 2 people were killed and 4 injured

MARICOPA COUNTY, Arizona. – A head-on collision in Maricopa County killed a man and a woman on Saturday, the sheriff's office said.

The accident occurred near 85th Avenue and McDowell Road on September 21st at around 1:20 p.m.

Four people were taken to the hospital. MCSO Sergeant Joaquin Enriquez said some of them suffered life-threatening injuries. Two people, a man and a woman, died at the scene.

“There are children involved, but their injuries are not life-threatening,” said Sergeant Enriquez.

A day after the crash, relatives gathered at the crash site for a candlelight vigil to remember the victims.

Relatives say the deceased woman is Gina Bejarano. She leaves behind three daughters.

The deceased man was not identified.

There is no information yet about the cause of the crash.
