One man was killed, the suspect fled the scene and later crashed on I-5, blocking traffic.

EVERETT, Washington — A shooting in Everett on Sept. 22 left one person dead and another injured. The suspect then led police on a highway chase and crashed on I-5 on Sunday afternoon, causing traffic delays and miles of traffic jams.

Just after 1 p.m., Everett police officers responded to a shooting at the Park View Apartments in the 1100 block of West Casino Road. At the scene, they found a man dead and a woman injured.

Witnesses told police that the suspect fled. Police found the suspect and pursued the vehicle north on I-5. The suspect crashed on the highway and also rammed innocent vehicles.

Shortly after the accident, police heard shots coming from the suspect's vehicle and found him dead in the vehicle.

All lanes of I-5 north and south were closed for a period of time. Both directions of traffic were fully reopened shortly before 9:30 p.m.
