Man from Monticello allegedly shot mother and grandmother

A Monticello man was taken into custody after being accused of shooting his mother and grandmother over the weekend.

According to the Kentucky State Police, 25-year-old Chase A. Jackson of Monticello is charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of first-degree assault.

State police said they were called by Monticello police shortly before 11 p.m. local time Saturday to assist in the investigation of a shooting on Winchester Road.

Jackson was reportedly involved in a verbal argument with his mother, 50-year-old Audrey J. Jackson, and his 94-year-old grandmother, Savanah H. Brock. During the argument, Chase fired a gun, striking his mother and grandmother.

A Wayne County Sheriff's Office deputy performed life-saving measures before Wayne County EMS arrived on the scene. The two women were flown by helicopter to the University of Kentucky Hospital, where they remain in critical condition.

Chase Jackson was booked into the Wayne County Jail.
