Police investigate shooting incident in Newark's West Ward

Authorities are investigating a shooting incident that occurred Saturday night in Newark's West Ward.At around 9:40 p.m., several shots were reported in the Fairmount neighborhood, near the intersection of West Market Street and Fairmount Avenue.

When police arrived at the scene, they found evidence of a shooting but no victims.

Immediately after the shooting, officers began searching for a vehicle that had fled the scene and in which the suspect was believed to be.

The car was later found in the 200 block of Lake Street in the North Ward, but the suspect had already fled and was still at large.

Police have been notified of at least one person who entered the University Hospital and may be connected to the incident, but this has not yet been confirmed.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation and authorities are working to gather more information about the circumstances of the incident.Support
