Corvette driver killed in rollover crash on Troy-Sterling Heights border

One person was killed in a rollover accident on Sunday morning on the border between Troy and Sterling Heights.

What caused the accident is unknown, but the wrecked Corvette was found upside down against a fence in the Dequindre area south of Metro Parkway around 7 a.m.

“I saw the car hit the fence over there and it didn't look good,” said one witness.

Another witness, Issac Jajawie, said he was on his way to church when he saw the car and realized he knew the driver.

“I clean cars and I clean his car all the time. So when I saw the car – and I'm a real car guy – my gut feeling was that's him,” he said.

The driver, whose identity is unknown, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Although it is not known how fast the driver was going when he crashed, local residents said speeding is a major problem on that stretch of road, especially at night.
