Two people charged in months-long drug investigation in Hanover

Two Mildmay residents face charges in connection with a $125,000 drug bust.

According to Hanover Police, several searches were conducted at unknown locations during the months-long investigation with assistance from the South Bruce OPP, the OPP Gambling Investigation Unit and the Saugeen Shores Police Service.

Officers seized a significant amount of illegal drugs, including 254 grams of fentanyl, 1.2 pounds of methamphetamine and 14 grams of crack cocaine, as well as stolen property.

The value of the seized drugs is $125,000, while the value of the stolen property is more than $5,000, police said.

A 37-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, both from Mildmay, are charged with three counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and possession of stolen property. The man also faces a charge of driving without a licence.

Police expect there will be further arrests in connection with this investigation.

Since the beginning of the year, police in Hanover have seized cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine and other opiates worth more than $244,000. Investigators have also found four firearms, 13 replica weapons, three prohibited weapons, several vehicles, $850 in counterfeit money and nearly $25,000 in cash.

“The Hanover Police and its policing partners are committed to making all of our streets safer, curbing the trade in illegal drugs and holding those involved in drug trafficking to account,” the police said in a statement.
