Lineups Game 156: Nats at Cubs

CHICAGO — The weekend was beautiful weather-wise, but that's not the case today. It's rained all morning and is expected to continue all afternoon, complicating the scheduled series finale between the Nationals and Cubs.

The Nats are off on Monday, but the Cubs are playing in Philadelphia, so they can't just stay overnight here and try again on Monday. Chicago was officially eliminated from the National League wild-card race on Sunday, so this game is technically meaningless. Major League Baseball doesn't like to cancel games outright, but it's been known to happen when there's a rainout between two eliminated teams this late in the season, so we'll have to wait and see how that plays out.

When they play, it's Jake Irvin on the mound for the Nationals, looking to continue his late-season resurgence. The right-hander has allowed a total of two runs on six hits in 13 1/3 innings over his last two games. He's lowered his ERA to 4.07, and if he gets a chance to make two more starts, he could get that number under 4.00 by the end of the season.

Shoto Imanaga gets the ball for the Cubs, and the Nats didn't look good on him when they faced each other in DC last month. Imanaga, who may win NL Rookie of the Year, allowed three runs on four hits in seven innings and struck out eight players. He allowed a home run by Dylan Crews, but not much else happened on the night.
