Yarmouth MA Bottomly and Hughan killed in crash – NBC Boston

A second person died in a traffic accident in Yarmouth, Massachusetts in August. The 81-year-old driver who was allegedly involved in the accident is now facing a second charge of negligent homicide, police announced on Monday.

The accident, which occurred Aug. 30 on North Main Street, left 14-year-old John Hughan dead, and his uncle, identified as Cornelius Allen Bottomley, 54, of Hanover, has since died, Yarmouth police said.

The accident occurred as Bottomley and Hughan were working on the side of the road to repair a boat trailer. Police allege that 81-year-old Peter Richmond drove his Cadillac Escalade into the back of the trailer, causing it to strike the people working on it.

A third person was also injured in the incident.

Richmond is now charged with two counts of negligent vehicular manslaughter.

Richmond remained on site and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
