One dead and three injured after two-vehicle accident in Christiansburg

A two-vehicle accident in Christiansburg left one dead and three injured early Monday morning.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, they, along with Montgomery County Fire and EMS, Christiansburg Fire Department, Christiansburg EMS and Radford Police and EMS responded to a crash in the 3800 block of Radford Road around 7:30 a.m.

Authorities said a driver lost control of his vehicle due to rain on slippery pavement. The vehicle then veered into the path of an oncoming vehicle. One of the drivers was identified as 22-year-old Kelsey Patton. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to sources, a man, a woman and a small child were in the other vehicle. They were all taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

This accident is currently under investigation by the New River Valley Regional Crash Team. We will update you with new information as it becomes available.
