Cheryl Hines spends birthday in Milan amid news of RFK Jr.'s alleged “personal relationship”

Cheryl Hines made her first public appearance since it was announced that her husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr. had a “personal relationship” with a new York magazine Reporter who covered the presidential election.

In a clip shared by a visitor on X (formerly Twitter), Cheryl could be seen sitting next to a runway with her daughter Catherine Young, watching the models – including Kyra Kennedy, her husband's daughter, who walked in the Gucci show. Cheryl wore a white button-down shirt and carried a black leather handbag.

Also on Saturday, her 59th birthday, the actress shared several posts on her Instagram stories, including a repost of a “Happy Birthday” message from her niece Zoe Hines.

“Thank you for the birthday wishes!” Cheryl wrote on Zoe's post, which included a video originally shared on the Instagram account of Hines + Young, the cosmetics company the actress owns with her daughter.

Cheryl also shared a photo of herself, Catherine and Kyra sitting together at a restaurant table with the caption: “Me and my girls.”

Catherine posted a photo of the birthday dinner in her own Instagram stories and sent her congratulations to her mother.

“Happy birthday to the best mum,” the 20-year-old wrote alongside a snap of Cheryl smiling as she was presented with a birthday cake with a candle. “I really don't know how I got so lucky.”

new York The magazine announced on September 19 that it had placed one of its reporters on leave after she entered into “a personal relationship with a former interviewee related to the 2024 campaign,” which CNN said was Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (Robert, 70, ran for president but withdrew from the race in August).

A spokesperson for the magazine said in a statement that 31-year-old Washington correspondent Olivia Nuzzi “admitted to the magazine's editors” that she entered into the relationship “while covering the election campaign,” which was “a violation of the magazine's standards regarding conflicts of interest and disclosures.”

“Had the magazine known about this relationship, it would not have continued to cover the presidential campaign,” the statement continued.

new York The magazine said Nuzzi was “on leave” even though “an internal review of her published work” found “neither inaccuracies nor evidence of bias.” The magazine added that it was “conducting a more thorough third-party review.”

The magazine apologized to its readers and said: “We regret this breach of trust by our readers.”

A representative of Robert denied in a statement to The Washington Postand explained that he had only met her once, for her November 2023 profile of him titled “The Mind-Distorting Politics of RFK Jr.'s Spoiler Campaign.”

“Mr. Kennedy met Olivia Nuzzi only once in his life for an interview she requested that resulted in a defamatory article,” the spokesman said, according to The Washington Post.

Nuzzi said in a statement to PEOPLE that “the nature of some communications” between her and “a former reporting individual became personal,” but added that she “neither reported directly on nor used the individual as a source” during that time.

“The relationship was never physical, but it should have been disclosed to avoid the appearance of a conflict,” she said. “I deeply regret not doing so immediately and apologize to those I have disappointed, especially my colleagues at new York.”
