Kenton woman arrested after drug incident at Dollar General – Peak of Ohio

On Saturday, authorities responded to a report of suspicious activity at the Dollar General in Lakeview. Witnesses reported people smoking pipes in a white Dodge sedan.

Logan County Sheriff's officers located the vehicle and made contact with the passenger, Kara Ewing, 35, of Kenton, and an unidentified male driver.

Ewing appeared visibly nervous and gave a detailed explanation of her family's experience with glaucoma. She said they were in the store to purchase glaucoma products.

The officers asked for permission to search the vehicle and Ewing granted permission.

During the search, she asked to access a black bag in the passenger footwell to retrieve feminine hygiene products.

When they allowed her to do so, officers found a smaller black bag containing two glass pipes with burn residue believed to be methamphetamine.

Additionally, a digital scale containing a white crystalline substance was discovered in the same bag.

Ewing was arrested and advised of her rights.

She initially claimed that the black bag belonged to a friend, but later admitted that the smaller bag containing the drug paraphernalia also belonged to her.

Despite the evidence, she denied any knowledge of the pipes and the scales.

Ewing was taken to the Logan County Jail where she was charged with minor possession of drug paraphernalia.
