Person dies in river accident in Flaming Geyser State Park on Saturday

A river rescue operation in Flaming Geyser State Park ended tragically on Saturday, September 21, 2024, when the missing person was found dead at the scene.

Mountain View Fire & Rescue, Puget Sound Fire and Enumclaw Fire responded to the emergency and deployed a raft, kayaks and lifeguards in a coordinated effort to find the missing person in the Green River.

The King County Sheriff's Office and King County Medic One also provided critical assistance during the operation.

Despite the quick and comprehensive response, officials confirmed that the victim was unfortunately deceased by the time rescue teams arrived. Additional support was provided by the Renton Regional Fire Authority and Guardian One, a helicopter unit that assisted in the search.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased.

Investigations into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.
