Students and parents arrested after gun threat against students at Minooka Intermediate School: Police

MINOOKA, Ill. (WLS) – A student and his parent were arrested after threatening students at a southern suburban school, police said in a Facebook post Friday.

Minooka Police were investigating a report of a threat with a possible weapon directed at students at Minooka Intermediate School.

Due to the student's parents' lack of cooperation and the nature of the threat, police executed a search warrant on the family's home in the 200 block of Menominee Street, officials said.

The threat was not realistic, but the parent was arrested for violating the Child Weapons Act, police said.

The student was arrested for disorderly conduct and released from custody.

In addition, all unsecured firearms were removed from the family's home, police said.
