20-year-old killed in car crash in Livingston Parish

Below is a press release from the Louisiana State Police:

DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (WAFB) – On September 22, 2024 at 7:30 p.m., troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to a two-vehicle crash on LA 1019 near Perkins Road in Livingston Parish. The crash claimed the life of 20-year-old Noah Sanders of Denham Springs.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2017 Cadillac ATS driven by Sanders was traveling eastbound on LA 1019. At the same time, a 1996 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling westbound on LA 1019. For reasons still under investigation, the Cadillac crossed the center line, entered the westbound lane, and struck the Chevrolet head-on.

Sanders was properly restrained but was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Cadillac was also properly restrained, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Both the driver and passenger of the Chevrolet were unrestrained, sustained serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital. No impairment is suspected in this accident, however, standard toxicology samples will be taken and sent for analysis. This accident remains under investigation.

Police would like to remind motorists to always make good decisions when in a motor vehicle. Never drive while impaired, tired or distracted; obey all traffic laws and always make sure all passengers are properly restrained. While not all accidents can be survived, simple precautions like these can often mean the difference between life and death.
