Rodri out for a long time due to serious knee injury

Manchester City midfielder Rodri has reportedly suffered a serious knee injury that could see him miss the rest of the season.

According to reports from ESPN and The Athletic on Monday, the Spanish international has sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee and is expected to miss the rest of the season, which would deal a major blow to City's title hopes this season.

Rodri limped off the pitch during City's 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Sunday, having just returned to Pep Guardiola's side following his summer efforts at EURO 2024.

However, the Premier League champions will apparently have to get used to playing without the Ballon d'Or contender, with several media outlets claiming that he will likely miss the rest of the 2024/25 season.

Rodri has been invaluable to City over the past few seasons, with the club losing all three Premier League games last season without the midfielder.

The 28-year-old eventually lost the FA Cup final to Manchester United in May, his first defeat in 75 games for the Etihad team.
