Reddit users have a major complaint about the name of John Mulaney and Olivia Munn's newborn daughter

In case you missed it, John Mulaney and Olivia Munn shocked everyone by announcing the arrival of their second child, a daughter named Méi June. This news shocked everyone when they announced it on September 22, 2024, and Reddit has some big thoughts on the Newsborn's name.

Munn shared the news of the arrival of their daughter, whom they welcomed via surrogacy, on Instagram with the caption: “Méi June Mulaney came into the world on September 14, 2024, the year of the dragon 🐉.”

She added, “I had so many deep emotions about not being able to carry my daughter. When I first met our surrogate, we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding that I knew I had found a true angel. Words cannot express my gratitude for protecting our baby for nine months and making our dreams come true. I am so proud of my little plum, my little dragon, for making the journey to be with us. My heart exploded. Méi (pronounced may) means plum 梅💜 in Chinese.”

A Reddit user named Alternative-Drive917 asked in the thread “r/namenerds”: “What do you think about the name of Olivia Munn and John Mulaney’s newborn daughter: Méi June.”

Well, the comments were pretty unanimous: it's a pretty name, but having two names that sound like months is a bit weird, at least that's what Reddit says.

Many commented the same: “I like the names individually. What I don't like is that it sounds like it's two consecutive months.”

Many believe that the name Mei (which Munn says is pronounced “May” and means plum) is a beautiful choice, but the combination with June is met with disapproval by some people. One user even commented, “The combination with 'June' might be questionable and I appreciate that two people known for their comedy decided to make a joke, even if it is a corny one.”
