Backstage update on Mick Foley's status in WWE

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley recently made headlines when he shared his thoughts on disgraced WWE executive Vince McMahon ahead of the Netflix series Mr. McMahon hitting theaters this week. Now, more news has surfaced about the hardcore legend, as Fightful Select reports that Foley has renewed a WWE Legends contract. Although Foley won't be appearing on WWE television, the outlet reported that under the terms of the Legends contract, he will continue to appear in video games and his likeness will also be used on merchandise and action figures.

Foley had previously hinted at a final Deathmatch to celebrate his 60th birthday, but the idea was dropped as his body was not in the best shape. He scrapped plans for the match after suffering a concussion and it doesn't look like he plans to revisit the idea anytime soon. The Hall of Famer hasn't wrestled since the 2012 Royal Rumble. However, Foley said he was “not at a loss for potential opponents” and revealed in an interview that he had secretly spoken to former AEW World Champion MJF, with the “Salt of the Earth” suggesting an idea that the veteran liked.

Foley recently spoke about his former boss during a question-and-answer session at Northern Ireland Comic Con. Foley said McMahon had a “good side and a bad side” but he “really liked him,” although their relationship was never the same after Foley left for TNA for a few years. Foley said he maintains an “innocent until proven guilty” attitude regarding McMahon and the allegations of sex trafficking and abuse made in a lawsuit filed by Janel Grant, a former WWE employee.
