Drugs and firearms worth $90,000 seized in raid on Brownfield home, felon arrested on multiple charges

A Brownfield man was arrested Wednesday on numerous drug and weapons charges after the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) and Maine State Police raided his home.

During the raid, authorities seized an estimated $90,000 worth of illegal drugs, several firearms, a large quantity of ammunition and allegedly over $25,000 in cash from drug trafficking.

Maine State Police said the investigation into the Brownfields' residence began several weeks ago because of suspicions of illegal possession of weapons by an unauthorized person.

Officers identified the suspect as 52-year-old Joey St. Hilaire of Brownfield and during the course of their investigation learned that St. Hilaire was allegedly in possession of several firearms and was involved in the trafficking of illegal drugs in York and Oxford County.

At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, agents with the Maine State Police and MDEA executed a search warrant at 7 Fulcher Ln. in Brownfield, St. Hilaire's residence, to search for illegally possessed firearms and ammunition, as well as evidence of possible illegal drug activity.

State police and the MDEA said they found several items consistent with drug use and trafficking during an initial search of the home and subsequently requested another search warrant to expand the search for illegal drugs and items related to drug trafficking.

During the search, police officers and MDEA agents seized two firearms – a loaded 9mm pistol and a rifle – as well as over 500 rounds of ammunition.

According to the MDEA, the estimated street value of the seized drugs is $90,000.

St. Hilaire, a convicted felon, was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs and possession of a firearm by a non-criminal person.
