Three people, including two brothers, were arrested last week in connection with the killing of a San Leandro man outside his home earlier this year, police said.

On May 5 at around 6:30 p.m., the victim was pulling into the driveway when two suspects approached in what appeared to be a robbery attempt. One of the victims was armed with an AR-15-style rifle, police said.

During the altercation, a shot was fired at the victim's vehicle, striking him in the neck. The victim, identified as 53-year-old Anderson Choy, was pronounced dead at the scene.

With the help of surveillance footage, police were able to identify two suspects, who are brothers. During an operation on Thursday, police arrested 18-year-old Erick Moreno and 28-year-old Mauricio Moreno, both of whom live in Hayward.

Also on Thursday, police arrested a third suspect on suspicion of aiding and abetting, but he was released the same day. Police did not release the person's name.

“This case is a testament to the tenacity and persistence of our investigators in seeking justice for the murder victim,” Lt. Abe Teng said in a statement. “We have spent a lot of time meticulously collecting evidence and conducting surveillance to build a case strong enough to go beyond mere arrests.”

On Monday, the Morenos were charged with murder by the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Jail records show the couple is being held without bail. Their next court date is scheduled for Tuesday.
