Man injured in Cloverdale after incident in shopping center parking lot

A man was hospitalized on September 19 after being attacked at a West Cloverdale shopping center.

A man suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the parking lot of a shopping center on the corner of 64th Avenue and 168th Street near Fruiticana.

The incident occurred around 4:50 p.m.

“One man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries while the circumstances leading to the incident remain under investigation,” said Sergeant James Mason, Surrey RCMP spokesperson, in an emailed statement.

He added that the General Investigation Unit of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) had taken “lead” of the investigation.

“(They) were able to determine that the attack was an isolated incident because the victim and suspect knew each other,” Mason added.

An eyewitness who works in one of the shops in the mall told the Cloverdale ReporterHe believed one of the men had been stabbed.

The eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said there were several police cars and two ambulances in the mall.
