Early Saturday morning, driver Devin Lundgren, 21, of New Ipswich, and his passenger James Barna, 18, of Sharon, were pronounced dead following a crash in New Ipswich.

Barna was also a student at ConVal until last year. His family told News 9 that he had a talent for brightening up a room and was a hard worker.

“It's an extremely difficult time for our ConVal High School community and the entire community, for our district,” said Principal Heather McKillop. “Any time you lose a student and people are injured or affected by an accident, it's really tough.”

School officials said the football game is the beginning of a healing process for the entire ConVal community. A moment of silence is planned before the game.
