17-year-old girl killed in ATV accident

Phoenix police said the accident occurred early Monday morning near 47th Avenue and Beardsley Road.

PHOENIX — Authorities say a 17-year-old girl died in an ATV accident in north Phoenix.

According to Phoenix police, the accident occurred early Monday morning around 4 a.m. near 47th Avenue and Beardsley Road.

Police identified 17-year-old Edith Ochoa, the driver of the 2017 Canam ATV, as the accident victim.

A 20-year-old man who was a passenger on the ATV was also injured in the accident. He is being treated at a nearby hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening, police said.

According to police, the SUV was the only vehicle involved in the incident.

According to police, the accident is still being investigated

“The driver’s impairment is still being investigated,” said a police press release.
