Man dead after incident with police officer in Fort Worth, police said

According to FWPD Sergeant Leah Wagner, one man is dead and the department is investigating a possible officer-involved shooting.

FORT WORTH, Texas — One man is dead and Fort Worth police are investigating a possible officer-involved shooting.

According to FWPD, the incident occurred in the area of ​​4800 Selkirk Drive near Inwood Road in West Fort Worth.

In a press conference, FWPD Sergeant Leah Wagner said officers responded to a call about a suicide attempt around 6 p.m. When officers arrived, they approached the man, who was next to a car believed to be his. Then shots were fired, Wagner said.

The man, who police said lived nearby, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fort Worth Deputy Police Chief Robert Alldredge told WFAA they believe two officers fired their weapons. FWPD says the department is investigating and a handgun was recovered from the man.

Sergeant Wagner said no officers or community members were injured.
