Verizon experiencing issues with cell and internet service

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – According to Verizon, data, voice, text and wireless home internet service are currently limited in Savannah.

Verizon says there is a known issue in the area and they are working on a solution.

The network disruption started at around 10:44 a.m. Monday morning.

In a statement from a Verizon spokesperson, they say a fiber cut is the cause of disruption:

A third party vendor has experienced two fiber cuts, which has caused a disruption in service for some customers in the Savannah area. Our engineers are engaged and working with our vendor to quickly restore service.

Cell and internet service issues are also limited in areas of South Carolina including the city of Beaufort.

According to the city of Beaufort, city facilities currently do not have phone or internet service.

City officials say their IT Department is working to address the issue.
