Caspian man who committed Alabama murder sentenced to life in UK | News, Sports, Jobs

CALEB ANDERSON

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — A former Caspian-area man already serving a life sentence following a murder conviction in Alabama has also been sentenced to life in prison for killing a Green Bay man in 2022, just days before the Alabama deaths.

Caleb Anderson, 25, received his second life sentence in Brown County District Court in Green Bay on Monday. He pleaded no contest on August 1 to intentionally stabbing Patrick Ernst to death, according to WLUK-TV.

Ernst, who was found dead on August 2, 2022, had approximately 51 stab wounds, a Brown County coroner found.

A “nocontrary plea” meant that Anderson accepted a guilty verdict without admitting or denying guilt.

According to authorities, Anderson attacked an 18-year-old woman who was jogging in Gaastra, Iron County, early in the morning of August 1, 2022. She was alone but was able to fend off the attack and escape.

He then drove to Wisconsin, where 65-year-old Ernst was killed in his apartment in Green Bay.

Authorities said Anderson then stole Ernst's car and drove to Alabama, where two days later, 52-year-old Dwight Dixon of Flomaton was killed. Anderson reportedly left his cell phone at the crime scene.

U.S. Marshals in Helena, Alabama, arrested Anderson on the afternoon of August 3, 2022, after the victim's car from Green Bay was observed driving into town.

Anderson pleaded guilty to capital crimes in Alabama in January as part of an agreement that avoided the death penalty in that state. He was immediately sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

According to court documents, Anderson found Ernst through a smartphone app that men use to arrange sex meetings with other men.

Anderson reportedly took selfie videos and photos with Ernst's body, wrote a Bible verse on the wall and left a handwritten apology.

In 2019, Anderson was convicted of fourth-degree sexual abuse in Marquette County and sentenced to 12 months probation. “Serial Ass Grabber” Case. He was accused of approaching unsuspecting women from behind in Marquette, grabbing their buttocks and then running away.
