Woman rescued after accident, Porsche dangles from parking garage in Florida

A woman was rescued Monday after a Porsche SUV crashed and dangled from the third floor of a parking garage in Coral Gables, Florida, officials said.

The incident occurred on the third floor of a garage at 1567 San Remo Avenue after authorities said it appeared the woman driving the SUV accidentally pressed the accelerator.

Coral Gables Fire Department officials said the impact caused the SUV to be thrown through a concrete barrier.

Aerial footage from NBC South Florida's helicopter showed the white SUV leaning over the edge of the garage and against a tree.

Officials said there was a woman inside the vehicle, which was hanging halfway out but was held up by the tree.

Rescue workers brought the woman to safety with ropes and were able to take her to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

“She was almost certainly shaken, but from the outside looking in, she was pretty calm given the drama of the incident,” said Xavier Jones, rescue chief of Coral Gables Fire Rescue.

An employee at a doctor's office across the street reported hearing the impact.

“I basically heard a car speeding away, like they accidentally hit the gas or tried to drive really fast. I heard a really hard crash, so I thought it was a car crash between two cars,” Katiana Polanco said.

Officials used a crane to recover the vehicle and said structural engineers would look at the garage.
