Newark man charged with drunk driving after allegedly striking mailbox – Finger Lakes Daily News

Police arrested a Newark man for drunk driving after he allegedly hit a mailbox with his car.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, Cameron Altenhof, 23, of Newark, was observed by another motorist driving north on Route 88 when he struck a mailbox. Officers found Altenhof in the Village of Sodus on Sunday afternoon and reportedly determined he was under the influence of alcohol and administered a standardized sobriety test. Altenhof's failure to complete the standardized sobriety test led to his arrest.

Altenhof was then transported to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office for processing, where he underwent a chemical test which revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.14%. Altenhof was transported to the Wayne County Jail where he was fingerprinted and photographed before being released on a traffic violation.

Altenhof is scheduled to appear in Sodus Municipal Court at a later date to answer the charges.

The fact that a defendant is accused of a crime constitutes merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
