Mikaela Mayer wins in the 10th round against Silvia Bortot

Mikaela Mayer will be back in the ring on September 27 when she takes on Sandy Ryan at The Theater at MSG in New York. The former British WBO welterweight titleholder is moving up and aiming to become the queen of two weight classes.

Mayer's most recent victory dates back to last September, when she made her third consecutive ring appearance in the UK. In Manchester, the fighter from Woodland Hills, California, took on Italian Silvia Bortot. The super lightweight bout went the full distance and after 10 rounds, referee Steve Gray scored the fight 100-90 in favor of the American.

Mikaela Mayer challenges Ryan on Friday in New York in her second attempt at the middleweight (67 kg) belt. In her last appearance in Liverpool in January, the 34-year-old lost a split decision to Natasha Jonas in her attempt to win the IBF belt.
