2 people die after murder and suicide in front of gas station

PHOENIX – In a surprise move, police have released additional information about a murder-suicide that left two people dead Monday morning.

Police identified the victim as 43-year-old Daniel Roman and the suspect as 49-year-old Lucas Izzo, who apparently suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area of ​​Bell Road and Loop 303 around 5 a.m. According to ABC15, the scene was outside of a QuikTrip.

Police found two men with gunshot wounds in the parking lot. Witnesses and officers attempted to save the lives of the two men, but both men died at the scene.

The Surprise police investigation revealed that Roman was dating Izzo's ex-wife. Authorities say Izzo shot Roman without provocation and then shot himself.

No one else was injured in the incident.
