According to police, Slater was at his home when members of the Ithaca Police Department and New York State Police Department executed the search warrant. He was arrested by IPD and charged with attempted second-degree burglary and exposure. Since he was released on parole, he was turned over to state police, where he was charged with attempted first-degree sexual abuse, third-degree menacing and creating a public nuisance.

Slater was arraigned in Tompkins County Centralized Arraignment Program court and is being held without bail. The IPD released a photo of the suspect “due to the nature of the complaints being investigated and public safety,” it said.

“The Cornell University Police Department and the New York State Department of Corrections and
“Community Supervision assisted in this investigation,” said IPD Lieutenant Thomas DuPay.

Police did not respond to a request for comment on the suspect's original description sent Monday afternoon, which said the victims had described a “clean-shaven” person.

Police “believe that other victims may not have reported similar crimes committed against them” and urge anyone with additional information or who wishes to report a crime to call the Police Emergency Operations Center at 607-272-3245, the Administrative Hotline at 607-272-9973 or the Police Hotline at 607-330-0000, email [email protected] or use the anonymous online tip form.
