Santa Fe police involved in shooting; suspect dead

One person is dead after a shooting involving Santa Fe police on Sunday. A spokesperson for the New Mexico State Police said the shooting occurred in the 100 block of La Pacita Circle. No officers were injured. Your Neighborhood: Local News from KOAT Action 7 NewsNMSP said Santa Fe police were dispatched there around 6 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22. Police responded to an armed person inside a home who was threatening a victim with a box cutter. The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Stephanie Coon of Santa Fe, approached police with the weapon and was ordered to drop it, NMSP said. This led to at least one officer shooting him during the response. Coon was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. This story is still developing.
