Santa Fe police involved in shooting; suspect dead

One person is dead after a shooting involving Santa Fe police on Sunday. A spokesperson for the New Mexico State Police said the shooting occurred in the 100 block of La Pacita Circle. NMSP said Santa Fe police were called there around 6 a.m. on Sunday, September 22. Police responded to an armed individual inside a home who was threatening a victim with a box cutter.

The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Stephanie Coon of Santa Fe, approached police with the weapon and was ordered to drop it, according to NMSP, which led to at least one officer shooting him during the incident.
