Scranton man sentenced to probation for theft | Raccoon Valley Radio

A Scranton man was recently convicted for an incident that occurred in December 2023.

According to court records, 27-year-old Jacob Vreugdenhil pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal damage to property, a Class D felony. He received a five-year suspended prison sentence and was placed on three years of probation by the Iowa Department of Correctional Services.

The charges stem from an incident on December 2, 2023. A Greene County Sheriff's deputy investigated a broken rear window of a vehicle located at the victim's home in Grand Junction. Damage was estimated at $4,600. Court documents show that the victim spoke to another person who was with Vreugdenhil and that Vreugdenhil denied being at the victim's home and damaging the vehicle.

Vreugdenhil was also ordered to pay over $800 in restitution, court costs and probation fees. Under the agreement, charges of trespassing causing damage over $300 were dropped.
