Arrest for attempted murder by Shreveport police

SHREVEPORT, LA – Arrest for attempted murder

On September 22, 2024, at approximately 4:27 p.m., Shreveport Police responded to an incident at the Royal Inn at 1906 North Market. Upon arrival, officers discovered a female victim with a life-threatening injury who had sustained a deep cut to her throat. Paramedics arrived on scene and immediately transported the victim to Ochsner Health, where she remains in critical condition.

While securing the area, officers made contact with a male suspect identified as 42 years old. Joshua Anzalone. Witnesses at the scene stated that Anzalone was responsible for the attack. He allegedly strangled the victim and slit her throat during an argument. Anzalone was arrested at the scene and investigators have been notified to assist in the case.

Anzalone was charged with attempted second-degree murder and booked into the city jail. According to the latest report, the victim is still alive but remains in critical condition.

Police Chief Wayne Smith praised the quick and effective actions of the patrol officers, whose efforts contributed significantly to solving the case.
