Suspect arrested after hours-long manhunt in double knife attack at Reading house

An hours-long manhunt in Reading early Tuesday morning ended with the arrest of a suspect wanted in connection with a stabbing of two men in the city, officials said.

Reading Police Chief David Clark said two adults were stabbed in a home in the 25 Bond Street area shortly after midnight, sparking an extensive manhunt for the suspect.

Police officers from North Reading, Wilmington and Woburn assisted Reading police in the search, which ultimately ended with the arrest of a 27-year-old Reading man around 3 a.m.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, is said to have been armed with razor blades or a carpet knife at the time of the stabbings, police said.

There was no immediate information on the condition of the victims, but Clark said they are expected to survive.

Video from the scene showed a large area cordoned off with yellow police tape, and what appeared to be trash scattered in the front yard.

The suspect is expected to appear before a judge sometime on Tuesday.

Further details are not being disclosed at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.

This is a developing story. Check back later for updates as more information becomes available.
