MD man arrested for stealing merchandise from Ballston business

ARLINGTON, VA – A 27-year-old Maryland man was arrested Friday night in connection with a robbery at a Ballston store.

Arlington County police responded to a report of a violent robbery in the 4200 block of Fairfax Drive around 9:30 p.m. A preliminary investigation revealed that a man entered a store, approached the counter and asked for merchandise, police said. The man then jumped over the counter, grabbed the merchandise and threatened an employee. He then left the store without paying for the merchandise.

After police sent a wanted report, officers responding to the initial alarm saw a man matching the suspect's description near Fairfax Drive and N. Nelson Street, police said. When officers stopped the man, they found the stolen merchandise in his possession.

Police have reportedly charged 27-year-old Maliek Young of Bowie, Maryland, with robbery.
