Second person dies of overdose in Missoula

A second person died of an overdose after Missoula police were called to three unconscious people in a vehicle on Sept. 19, according to Missoula police spokeswoman Whitney Bennett.

On Thursday, September 19, officers responded to a welfare check where three people were found unconscious in a vehicle.

Officers administered Narcan and deployed an AED. All three people were transported to a local hospital.

One of the men was hospitalized, the other remained in critical condition until his death on Tuesday.

Following these overdose incidents in Missoula County, police launched a public awareness campaign.

“Fentanyl and other illegal substances pose a significant risk to public health and safety. It is important that everyone is aware of the potential dangers and takes precautions,” the Missoula police statement said.
