Documents: Richmond police informant found murdered in Fort Wayne

Richmond police say Matthew Johnson and Christina Dixon were informants. Their bodies were found in the St. Marys River in Fort Wayne.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Police believe two Connersville residents were murdered because they were informants. According to court documents, Dominique Washington is accused of killing Matthew Johnson and Christina Dixon, who worked for Richmond police.

The bodies of Johnson and Dixon were found in the St. Marys River in Fort Wayne on September 20, 2024.

According to court documents, they were both informants for the Richmond Police Department, and investigators credited them with a raid that uncovered “a large amount of narcotics” on Sept. 10.

Richmond police told Fort Wayne police that Washington was connected to the suspected drug dealer arrested in the Sept. 10 raid. That suspect is listed as a witness in court documents.

Police believe Washington lured Johnson and Dixon into a car on September 19 and forced them to turn off their phones. Investigators believe “Dominique then switched vehicles, killed them en route, and subsequently dumped their bodies in the St. Marys River in Fort Wayne.”

Police were able to track Washington's movements using traffic cameras and cell phones. Police say he used a friend's car for the initial kidnapping and then returned to the scene in his own vehicle.

Washington is being held in the Allen County Jail. He was arrested on Tuesday, September 24. The preliminary charges are murder, kidnapping and “failure to report the discovery of a body with intent to hinder the investigation.” He has been formally charged with murder.
