I-65 ramp closed after semi-truck accidents in downtown Louisville

All interstate ramps in downtown Louisville are reopened after some of them were closed Tuesday morning due to a crash involving a semi-truck on Interstate 65. At around 3:30 a.m., LMPD responded to a report that a semi-truck had skidded and struck a retaining wall on I-65 South, south of the Kennedy Bridge. The driver was able to get out and was uninjured, but the truck spilled diesel on the ramp and also on the ramps below. The ramp from I-65 North to I-64 West and two ramps from I-65 South were all closed due to the crash. They remained closed for the rest of the morning rush hour, causing backups. LMPD said all of the fuel had to be mopped up before the remaining lanes could be fully opened, and rain slowed the process.

All interstate ramps in downtown Louisville are reopened after some were closed Tuesday morning due to a tractor-trailer accident on Interstate 65.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., LMPD responded to a report that a semi-trailer truck had skidded and struck a portion of the retaining wall on I-65 South just south of the Kennedy Bridge.

The driver was able to get out and was uninjured, but the truck spilled diesel onto the ramp and also onto the ramps below.

The ramp from I-65 North to I-64 West and two ramps from I-65 South were closed due to the accident.

They remained closed for the rest of the morning rush hour, causing traffic congestion.

According to LMPD, all of the fuel had to be mopped up before the remaining lanes could be fully opened, and the rain slowed that process.
